The following Research 2000 College Footbal Top 25 Scientific Fan Poll for the week of September 25, 2006 results from telephone interviews of 800 college football fans nationwide who regularly follow Division I college football, read a minimum of two national college football magazines and watch a minimum of five games weekly were interviewed nationwide by telephone. Those interviewed were selected by the random variation of the last four digits of telephone numbers. A cross-section of exchanges were utilized in order to ensure an accurate reflection of college football fans nationally. Quotas were assigned to reflect population distribution by state:
